Engineer-of-record responsibility #
ILX Calcs is a tool to assist qualified structural engineers. It does not provide engineering services, and its results are not a sealed or approved design.
- The engineer of record is solely responsible for the design, including the choice of loads, load combinations, materials, member types and details, the geotechnical values, and for confirming that the results are suitable for the project and comply with the governing building code and the project specifications.
- Every result, drawing and report produced with ILX Calcs must be independently reviewed and checked by a licensed professional engineer before it is used for construction or issued to others.
- ILX Calcs covers the checks and configurations described in its user manual for each calculation type. Conditions outside that scope (for example, fatigue, vibration, seismic detailing beyond what the manual lists, fire, corrosion, construction stability, soil behaviour beyond the values you enter, or unusual geometry) must be addressed by the engineer separately.
Accuracy #
ILX Studio, LLC tests ILX Calcs against published design examples, code tables and hand calculations, and documents every difference from the published values (see Verification). Even so, software can contain errors. ILX Studio, LLC makes no warranty that the results are free of errors or fit for any particular purpose, and accepts no liability for the use of the results, as set out in the Terms of Service.
